Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 head romaine or iceberg lettuce
  • Pickles (dill or bread-and-butter)
  • Cheddar or American cheese
  • Tomato slices
  • Onion (white or red)
  • Mustard
  • Ketchup

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and break it up with a spoon. Season with salt, pepper, and other spices to taste. Cook until browned (5-7 minutes) and drain excess fat.
  2. Prep Your Lettuce Boats: Rinse lettuce leaves and pat dry. Choose sturdy leaves that can hold the filling.
  3. Cheese It Up: Reduce heat to low, place cheese slices on the beef, and cover the skillet for 1-2 minutes until cheese melts.
  4. Assemble the Boats: Take a lettuce leaf, add a scoop of beef, and pile on toppings: tomatoes, pickles, onions, mustard, and ketchup.
  5. Dig In: Serve on a platter for a fun meal where everyone can customize their boats.
