French Onion Grilled Cheese Dip

A gooey, cheesy dip that combines the comfort of French onion soup with the joy of grilled cheese.

  • 1 loaf French bread, sliced thick
  • 2 cups provolone cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups beef broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarian)
  • 1 packet onion soup mix

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the French bread into 1-inch pieces.
  3. Mix the beef broth and onion soup mix in a medium saucepan over medium heat until well combined; bring to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the shredded provolone cheese gradually until melted and smooth.
  5. Pour the cheesy mixture into an oven-safe dish and prepare the sliced bread for dipping.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden; broil for the last minute for added crispiness.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs or balsamic reduction.

Notes

This dip can be prepared ahead and stored in the fridge; just bake before serving. Experiment with different cheeses or add sautéed veggies for variety.
