Chicken Shawarma Orzo

A delightful fusion of marinated chicken and fluffy orzo pasta, drizzled with a creamy garlic sauce for a flavorful dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Chicken Breasts (or thighs)
  • 1 cup Orzo Pasta
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic (fresh or powdered)
  • 1 tsp Spices (cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric)
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup Greek Yogurt (or sour cream)
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbsp Tahini (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken and coat it well. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight in the fridge.
  2. Cook the Orzo: While the chicken marinates, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add your orzo and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Chicken: In a skillet over medium heat, heat a drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, add the marinated chicken. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and fully cooked through. Remove from the pan and let it rest for a minute before slicing.
  4. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. If you’re feeling fancy, add a splash of tahini for extra creaminess!
  5. Combine the Ingredients: In the same skillet, add the cooked orzo. Toss it together with the sliced chicken, mixing until well combined. If you want a little extra fresh flavor, drizzle in some more olive oil.
  6. Serve It Up: Plate the orzo and chicken mixture, then drizzle generously with the creamy garlic sauce on top. Garnish with fresh herbs or thinly sliced radishes for crunch.
