Pretzel Pizza Pie

A warm, chewy pretzel crust topped with gooey cheese and your favorite toppings, adding a crunchy twist to traditional pizza.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni (or your favorite protein)
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers, diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add warm water to the dry ingredients and mix until it begins to come together.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for about 30 minutes.
  5. Bring a large pot of water to boil and add the baking soda.
  6. Punch the risen dough down and roll it out to fit your pizza pan.
  7. Drop the rolled-out dough into the boiling baking soda bath for 30 seconds on each side, then let it drain.
  8. Place the dough on a greased pizza stone or baking sheet.
  9. Spread pizza sauce evenly, layer on cheese, pepperoni, and other toppings, then drizzle with olive oil.
  10. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, garnish with sea salt and herbs. Experiment with different toppings like veggies or BBQ chicken.
