Ramen Carbonara

A fun twist on the traditional Italian classic, Ramen Carbonara combines crispy bacon, creamy egg, and delicate ramen noodles for a quick and satisfying dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 packs Instant Ramen, or fresh ramen noodles
  • 4 slices thick-cut Bacon, chopped
  • 2 large Eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan Cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked Black Pepper, to taste
  • Chili flakes, optional for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until crispy, stirring occasionally. Save some of the rendered fat for added flavor.
  2. Prepare the ramen by boiling a pot of water and cooking the noodles according to package instructions (about 3 minutes). Drain, reserving a cup of the cooking water.
  3. Combine the cooked ramen with the bacon in the skillet, tossing to coat in the bacon fat.
  4. Create the sauce by whisking eggs and Parmesan cheese together in a bowl, then remove the skillet from heat and quickly add the egg-cheese mixture over the noodles, tossing rapidly to coat.
  5. Season with black pepper and chili flakes before serving in deep bowls, garnished with additional Parmesan and crispy bacon.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, sauté mushrooms instead of using bacon; for vegan, substitute eggs with silken tofu and use nutritional yeast.
